They had eyes of silver - by S.E.Davis

I was lucky enough to read a beta version of this novel as an ARC, and I can tell you that Sarah’s editing is unbelievable. I loved the original version, but no, Sarah decided the tale she wanted to tell wasn’t as represented in that version, and promptly rewrote almost the entire novel. The core of the story remained, but the emphasis had shifted. And honestly, you have to stand back in awe of the dedication that must have taken. Respect.

And of course, Sarah was right.

This novel has, at its heart, a blooming love story, and that of adults. The social awkwardness of teenagers is thankfully absent, instead, we have a strong female MC, with an equally strong male MC, who happens to also be a werewolf (I’ll let Sarah define that better). Now I don’t think I’m spoiling anything there, I think the reader knows, from the cover, that we are dealing with supernatural elements in this book. What elevates this paranormal romance from others, is the character work, and the love of veterinary science, so appropriate for a book about werewolves.

How about that? A werewolf story, written by a vet – someone that actually knows a bit about animals?

Sarah’s humor and attention to detail come across well, the sex scenes are well done and don’t shy away, the writing is breathtakingly fast (the pages fly by). All in all, it reads like a campfire story that you are happy to lose yourself in. Enthralled is probably a better word.

I loved it, and can’t wait for the following sequels - They had eyes of Gold - and - They had eyes of (Ice? I think).

Plus, there's a puppy in here with a great name 😃🤜🤛

I’m giving this a clear 5 ⭐ ‘s, and can’t wait for the next one (which I am also lucky enough to be beta reading!).
